Cricket at Beckenham

Beckenham's Cricket Section is one of the best in Kent Cricket. The cricket section also has its own website with all sorts of reports, member profiles and so forth.

Click on our new website at: www.beckenham-sydenhamcc.co.uk for details.

Junior Cricket

Junior coaching is available for all ages (7 and up) and standards of player of Sunday mornings at Foxgrove. For more details follow Junior Cricket at Beckenham

Saturday Cricket

Starting in 2002 the cricket section at Beckenham merged with Sydenham Cricket Club. The merged section runs four Saturday sides (playing league cricket between May and early September). The 1st and 2nd XI's play home fixtures at Foxgrove Road, Beckenham, while the 3rd and 4th XI's play home fixtures at Cricket Lane, Sydenham.

Sunday Cricket

The merged section also runs three Sunday sides (one playing league cricket and two playing "friendly" cricket between mid-April and the end of September). The Sunday 1st XI play at Cricket Lane, Sydenham, whilst the "Wizards" and "Merlins" play a mixture of home games at Foxgrove and away games, many of them against a variety of Kent Village sides.

Famous Faces

Past members include Derek Underwood, Richard Ellison and Nigel Felton, whilst the club's latest "star" is Robert Key, Kent, England's Test batsman on the recent Ashes tour.

Cricket Week

The highlight of the season, social and cricket-wise is Cricket Week, running in the first half of August, climaxing with the bi-annual match against the MCC.

There are matches every day of the week, with varying standards of opponents to suit all members, and a number of evening social events, such as a quiz night, Frog Racing and a Disco/Dance night on the Saturday.

Saturday Nights

Saturday Night is the big social night at Beckenham, with all cricketers congregating after their matches. "Summer Madness" is just one feature of the Saturday evening.

Cricket Section Website

The cricket section also has its own website with match reports, player profiles and so forth. Click on our new website at: www.beckenham-sydenhamcc.co.uk for details.
